A recipe:
Here is the recipe for Wassail, as in "Here we go a-Wassailing"? No, I don't really know what that means, but it's the drink that I love this time of year and that I just like to have around to drink hot or cold, morning or night. Yummy, fall, deliciousness. It's a recipe from my mother in law that we would shrivel up and die without.
(Believe it or not, this is the recipe with the sugar cut in half and it's still pretty sweet.)
Enjoy!
Mix:
6 cups water
1 and 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar. Boil for 5 minutes.
Add:
5 cinnamon sticks
15 cloves
10 allspice
2 ginger
Turn off burner and cover. Let stand for one hour. Add one gallon apple cider and 1 bottle of cranberry juice.
(It would be lovely to put all those spices in a tied up cheesecloth or something so it's nice and easy to get out...or you can either spoon it out or I have even just left them in there in the bottles and avoid actually drinking them.)
Enjoy!

I was going to email you Friday to ask you for this exact recipe! Wahoo! Here I go a wassailing . . .
How funny - Taylor just made wassail today and it was yummy! I like your recipe too. I love the cranberry part.
I have been making Wassail for the Temple Missionaries for the past few weeks for our language school but I have been using orange juice instead of cranberry. I need to try this one. If it's Jenny's, it must be good! Thanks!
Here is where I ask some really dumb questions:
Are the cloves just those little pokey things in the bottle?
What does allspice look like? Does it come in a bottle as well?
Where do you buy ginger? Is it that funny looking tan stuff with the vegetables? And aren't they big? Do you really throw two of those things in there?
Could I be more Wassail challenged?
The good news is that I know what cinnamon sticks are.
I testify of the awesomeness of this wintery drink (that I can't spell). DElicious.
