The rainy day "can't hardlys"
My sister uses that phrase all the time. I got a case of the "can't hardlys". I guess it means that I can't really get going doing anything tremendously productive. We have already been to the doctor, returned books to the library and visited Costco--so I guess we got some things done. I bought a magazine at the store and now I am going to go downstairs and read celebrity gossip while my children watch TV or do puzzles. The house it totally clean and its rainy outside. I love the rain. I love being inside a dark house on a really rainy day...thunder in Houston is a total bonus. Maybe I'll make something really yummy for lunch. Any suggestions? Want to come play at our house on this rainy day?

My name is Emmeline Harris and I am a time bandit.
I mean, I already knew this, deep in my heart. And most people that associate with me have probably suspected as much. I will suck your time and vaporize it into nothingness, as if it had never existed to begin with.
I sit every night, exhausted, and wonder where my day has gone and how I could have managed my time better. I do not discredit how important it is to spend quality time with my children and I know that it is OK to let the house go from time to time. But I wish that I could freeze time, just every now and then, to work out, to draw, to take my time taking pictures of something that doesn't move, to read a book.
I feel obligated to give people specific time frames for things such as my completion of a project or my arrival somewhere and without fail I am always a good 20 or 30 minutes off.
I don't want to have "my own standard time" and I don't want to be known as someone who is always late.
I want to be dependable, reliable, punctual and arrivc put together and prepared.
My husband used to always say,
"To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is to be forgotten."
So until I figure this out, if you see me coming run the other way--or your time may also be infected by this mist of tardiness that I drag along beside me.

so very unwise from time to time...
I just asked my daughters to put on their pj's. In my desperate effort to urge the older little person, and be funny, the littler little person helped me put on the bigger little ones nightgown. I can't breath, my arms are slowly going numb, I smell a tinckly sort of smell and my husband doesn't get home until 10:30 tonight. Help. I don't think that this is something that I can call my visiting teachers for.
I would at least humor you with a picture but its in my husband's car.

Poop out the wahzoo!
I need comfort and reassurance.. (Whether I am just a poor mom or not I would prefer you to validate me...afterall, its my blog...me me me...the complaint department is down the hall and closed indefinately.)
My three-year old has no desire to use the potty. She will go as often as she is set upon the porcelin throne but will still have an accident minutes after that. I have tried many a methods...so many in fact over the course of the last 9 months we have resorted to pull ups because I can't stand to throw away one more pair of uncleanable poopy Strawberry Shortcake Underwear. Do I have a horribly stubborn child or am I the cause of our poopy woes?

Happy 4th!
We had a great 4th of July! It started with a way-too-early-for-a-day-off breakfast at church which was actually fun. Clark had to be there extra early so we dragged the kids out of bed so we could spend the ENTIRE day as a family. I really do love going to church activities because we have such fun and feel so welcome in our ward family. Then we just played all day. We stayed home and lazed around. We didn't do ANY chores. We just sat and played games and wrestled and ate all of our meals together at the table, and it was great!

We painted faces and fingernails with Independence Day glitz and then enjoyed a most delicious dinner at our favorite Mexican Restaraunt and watched a fireworks show from the comfort of our car. We went to watch even though it was raining and it turned out to be perfect.
It cooled off just enough to not be gross, a breeze and the drizzle kept away the mosquitos and the traffic was minimal.

IT WAS A HAPPY DAY, CELEBRATING THE AMAZING COUNTRY THAT WE ARE GRATEFUL TO LIVE IN!!!
