July 2016...Time to say good-bye

July...my sister Abby came to visit.  You might think that coming the month we are moving is crazy but actually it was perfect timing.  Clark had already begun work in Virginia starting in June and there was little productivity in worrying about saying goodbye and packing up a house so Abby coming was a perfectly lovely distraction of really hard things coming.
We wore "housecoats" from Walmart, ate Beaver nuggets from Bucees, ate EVERYWHERE, and took one last day trip to Waco with the kids.

Our neighborhood was dotted with huge grassy areas used as retention ponds during heavy rains - a perfect place to take Rocket off the leash and let him run and chase birds to his little heart's content.  I'm sure he misses this, although he has a pretty sweet backyard here in Virginia.
Sadie got married in July and it was a special day to be able to take the kids up to Tyler for it.
Haley got her braces off, Jonah and Lovey just assume that they are a daily part of one another's lives, and if kids are left at Grandma and Grandpa's house for too long, they end up on the roof (with Grandpa, sometimes eating KFC.)

One might think that coming from DC where we watched fourth of July fireworks on the Potomac with the National mall as the backdrop, that sitting in a shopping center to watch the fireworks over Lowe's Home Improvement, might be a disappointment.  But you'd be wrong.  It was special because in Tomball, that's just what we do.  We sit in the grass and hang out with our favorite people and it's just as wonderful as ever.

We watched as they packed up the house and then explored it one last time.  It hurts just looking at these pictures again...
And then the Good-byes began...and it was hard but also happy because a hard goodbye means good friends and special times.

I look at this last picture of my sweet family in our home in Texas and have such a myriad of emotions.  I am grateful for them.  I am grateful for the immense strength and fortitude in a family that is willing to go where we ask them to go and stick together.  They are truly amazing and I feel such overwhelming love for them and gratitude for their companionship.  They make my life incredibly beautiful.

And then we arrived at the next chapter for the Scharman family...
