Sometimes I call her several times a day. I wonder if she is truly sick of me yet.
So here is what I called her about today.
1. Standing in line at Panera there was a woman in front of me. She looked young but was wearing scrubs implying that she worked perhaps in some kind of health office? Dentist office? Doctor's office? I really don't know. But she was gnawing mercilessly on her nails. Maybe it's because I have a 6 year old that has this habit and we have been trying endlessly for 2 years to break her of it. Not only to let her poor nails be but it means she has her fingers in her mouth, all the time. It was grossing my out so intensely that I almost, almost had to say something to her.
2. I went to see my doctor for a quick blood pressure read due to a headache I've had for 6 weeks. Tylenol doesn't help and there ends my options. My weird OB's professional opinion? Drink a half a cup of wine every night before bed. I said, I don't drink...and was thinking, uh and I'm pregnant. That was after I sat in the waiting room staring at a poster promoting the morning after pill--it said "sometimes the morning after can get messy" and had a picture of a spilled cup of coffee on a planner. Comparing accidentally getting pregnant to a spilled cup of coffee?...I can't even go there. grr.
3. I had McDonalds for dinner. 'nough said.
But my kids made me laugh today, lots of times and that made it better between all those weird things that happen day to day.
Now for a change of direction. A couple of months ago I started compiling my Blurb (an online company that publishes your blog into book format.) I had lots of glitches and it was excruciatingly frustrating...But, I finally figured out what the problem was and got it submitted. I got it in the mail today. 168 pages of journaling from the last 2 years. I am so pleased.
Once I figured out the hang up, it was so easy I made two more books one for me and one for Clark.
I just finished some other projects for the girls. I have been putting together projects for the upcoming deployment so I started with little laminated, spiral bound picture books for each person in the family. They are filled with pictures of the family and pictures of the girls with their Dad, specific for their own book. However, once I got through with three little ones I decided doing a blurb book for me and Clark would be much faster, and cheaper.
Which brings me to my next random jump of topics. We're moving in two and a half weeks. I can't tell you how excited I am to leave this particular dwelling. It has housed our comfy little family and surrounded us (rather closely) with most of our familiar things. However, with the absence of overhead lighting and small rooms it's like living in a cave. My eyes actually hurt by the time we go to bed. Clark is leaving to meet his boat, the USS Annapolis and take over as Navigator near the end of the year. Instead of the girls and I moving into a house and enduring our first New England winter through the throws of 2nd and 3rd trimesters I opted for Utah. My parents are graciously taking in the Scharman girls for the next several months until Clark returns. I will most likely stay in Utah until after the baby is born, as we have discovered our birthing options are narrowly more attractive there. I am feeling prepared for the move, but unprepared for our separation. It's good to miss someone but not that fun. There's no telling how it will affect the girls though we have read and prayed and prepared as much as we know how. The last time Clark deployed Haley was only 2 and Abby was a baby. They weren't really old enough to grasp the concept of time or absence. My heart already aches. I am so proud of him and couldn't feel more supportive of what he does. I admire him, I believe in it, I am invigorated and humbled by what efforts are made on our behalf.
Was this long enough? Are you still with me?
Later.

I have always admired your strength. Just thinking of my husband being away for that long makes me ache. You will luckily be surrounded by love and maybe that will cushion you and the girls. But you are so much braver and stronger than you give yourself credit for.
If Abby ever gets sick of you (which she never will) I'm only a ring away!
wow. I have so many comments, I don't even know where to start...
I call my sisters constantly. I get it. Utah? How hard to spend months separated. How wonderful to spend that time with your familia. Your parents are the bomb. Hi, Mo!
That bloggie book is perfect! I want one! since I am horrible at journaling these days. what's the web site??? how expesive is it?
okay, I think I had more to say, but now I can't remember and I need to go to sleep.
first off- i think elle bites her nails, too. when it's time to cut nails, hers don't seem to need to be cut. hmmm. also, i want to know more about the blurb. i'll have to look it up. and i'm so glad you are going to utah. to have family around makes all the difference in the world. i think it will be a really great thing for you guys.
About the things that annoy you...I can constantly annoyed by ramdon things and then get annyoed that I am annoyed. It's a sad circle!
The books are ADORABLE!!! I love them and am motivated by your creativity.
When do you find out what you're having?
While in Utah, come and visit. I know Abby LOVES company, plus she hasn't had much lately. Our little ones can play.
As for Clark leaving. I have nothing to say. I was in NY while Rob was in NV for two months. I worked and we didn't have kids and it was still hard. We'll pray for your little girls. Don't worry, they will be surrouned by so much love they won't have time to be sad.
I call Abby about random stuff to. She's OK with it.
My heart feels for you...but you will be okay! I will remember your little family in my prayers. I am glad that we will get to have another fun friend close by...we will be able to have some fun. Please let me help you watch the little ones, or whatever else you may need.
I LOVE your book. That is the whole reason I started blogging, so I can eventually have a "journal".
Make sure you play lots of video of Clark while he is gone so the girls can see him and rememebr what he looks and sounds like. Being a "Navy Brat" too I just had pictures to look at of my dad. What a wonderful blessing modern technology is to be able to now have video!
We will keep you guys in our prayers.
I'm not happy about the separation but I am thrilled to have you and the girls coming here. We can't wait! Will you teach me how to do all your fun books? My craft room is your craft room!
ooh Mo, that gives me chills.
Yep, still here.
How hard to be separated, even if for such a good cause. And, yet how wonderful to be with your family! Really, it seems the best solution for this.
Life seems to be full of so many things that are difficult and good at the same time.
And, yes, I agree that efforts made on our behalf are blessed indeed.
What a priceless gift you're giving the girls to help them remember their daddy while he's away. Those books are such a good idea. That will be very hard for all and I admire your courage. I'm so glad that you get to live with your parents until Clark comes back. Not to mention you'll be by some of your lovely siblings.
Now about the nail biting - please don't hate all of us nail biters. I've done it since I was young and my mom has always tried to get me to stop. The weird thing is is that I'm a total germaphobe but for some weird reason biting my nails doesn't bother me at all. Don't hate me.
I call my sister Catherine all the time for the most random things, It's nice to have someone to talk to and who will listen to all my junk.
I admire your strength as your husband leaves and you move with your girls, I don't know I could do it. My husband has been traveling alot lately for job interviews and I think that is hard...I have nothing to complain about. Just as long as I can hold this baby in while he is away. Good Luck!
I love the blurb book...thank you for the link! As sad as I am that your family has to be seperated I am really glad you will be closer to us. I really do hope we get the chance to see a little more of each other, and maybe just maybe a Lott, Scharman & Kunzler reunion in Park City perhaps?? What do you think of that?
I'm sad that you are leaving the East Coast in two weeks. There is no way I am going to get up to New England in two weeks. If I had known there was a deadline I would have tried. I have waited so long for you to come and now you are leaving again. Not to mention we only visit Utah every 7 years and we just went this summer.
Now, what are you going to do about your headaches? I am worried. Someone out there who reads Em's blogs has to know someone who can give her better advice than a her Dr. did. What a hard day. By the way, I went to Panara today too, but no one was biting their nails and I even got great customer service.
ok those books are so cool. its just a book with your blogs in it! and the covers of the books from the girls are adorable!

i wish we were going to be closer to y'all while clark is 'out and about'. our couple hours with you and the girls on monday only made us miss being by you more! but fun pictures on the way!
What an amazing and strong woman you are... nough said!
Well with 17 comments it looks like you don't need my measely contibution...until the next phone call that is.
I'm watching Malcom right now and missing you. I'm glad you'll only be an hour later in UT. Then I won't be so sad when I want to call you in the eventide.
Go Navy, beat Army! Is he taking his goat pj's? I think he should.
I feel for you with the upcoming separation. You are lucky to get to be with the family and not so cave like surroundings. Your books are precious. You are such a fun mom in so many ways. I'm still looking for someone to call 20 times a day. I'm glad you have Abby. I've annoyed all of my possible contacts, mostly family, long ago.
I love the blog book. I feel like actually posting now just to have it be in a fun book.
I love the blurb idea. I really need to do that too. Maybe after the baby comes.
I think Sunnie gets the brunt of my random phone calls.
As far as the headaches go. I'm not sure how far along you are. I'm thinking 2nd trimester. Dr. McGuirk said it's very common to get headaches in the 2nd trimester because of a drop in hormones. His suggestion was to take tylenol with a caffeinated drink. I know it helped Tori a lot. Headaches are actually one thing I didn't get this pregnancy. lol
Being separated like that has got to be tough. I really feel like we get extra help from Heavenly Father at times like that, I hope you will feel that when you need it!
I can totally relate to the random things you tell your sister. Mine lives here and I save up my random thoughts for when I see her; she never seems to think they are random. I am so used to it that I sometimes tell my random thoughts to other people; they are not as accepting...
love the books! need to get on that....
I'm so glad you chose to go to Utah! It will be good to be close to loved ones that can help out with some of the load every now and then.
You guys will do great. Lots of prayers and some tears will help, but you'll get through it...Oh, Clark, what a good kid he is.
