It is done.

300 meter swim
10 mile bike
5K run

My goal was  to finish in under 1:30:00
My race time was 1:26:20

I can totally live with that.

In the Women's Novice category I place 14 out of 27.  I can live with that too because let me tell you, I was impressed with the people out there.  I loved that everyone's age is written on their calf because I was inspired every time I was passed by someone whether it be the 14 year olds that encouraged me with a "good job" or men and women in their 50's and 60's.
It was hard.  Harder than the run through I did with Laurie last week.  But it was satisfying to accomplish something that took a lot of preparation.  And I am proud of myself.
And I am really grateful that both of our families were there because it meant that I had not only Laurie (who encouraged every, I mean, every step of the way) but both our husbands and all of our 9 children combined.  I love these people and I am grateful for them.
They were there to cheer for us at each transition and the kids were there to run in the last 30 yards with me.  That made me cry but it also made me very happy.

Laurie did amazing.  This mother of 5 encouraged me to do it in the first place.  She not only met her goal to beat her time two years ago but she shattered it by 6+ minutes.  She just had a baby 5 months ago.  She is amazing.
I made us dorky t shirts that we wore proudly!
I am waiting to see if it's like having a baby.  While I was doing it I was thinking "yeah, OK, I am doing it.  I am good with never doing this again." But in a week I might just consider it.  In any case, I need something ahead to keep me going to the gym....besides their hydro massage table and child care.

Let me just say that I am VERY impressed and a bit jealous! I just don't think I have it in me but you finishing does not surprise me in the least. Way to go!

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment and while I admire anyone that can move for movement's sake, meeting a time goal in a first(?) triathlon is pretty amazing. Yeah, Laurie's pretty awesome too! How it ISN'T like having a baby is that your body probably looks and feels awesome afterward.

YEAH! Em!!! Congrats!!! I thought while I was doing my triathlon last year, "I am never doing this again, it is so hard!" and now I am doing one again in June!!

You looks so great in your action shots. I love the Mommy T too.

Way to go. I love your shirt. I finished my first triathlon in 1:47 or something like that. Now I am signed up for another this summer. I only have to beat myself, right?

I am so, so proud of you. I have contemplated doing a triathlon for several years but have always been too chicken to even start training. I think I've been inspired to just get out there and do it. Congratulations on a HUGE accomplishment! You are one hot tri mama!!!!

Horray to you Emily!! There is the "Tri-High" as I call it....total exhilaration....and then there is the "Post Race Depression" almost as bad as that post-pardum stuff, but doesn't last as long! I hope you are still in the "Tri-High!" Enjoy it because you totally deserve it! You rock!!

Congratulations! So impressed! It makes one feel so well rounded and alive to have goals other than the normal good mom goals. My race is May 21st and I can't wait for it to be in the past. No time goals here, only crawling across the finish line alive (someone died last year here during a less challenging race). I love the pics. Especially the first one. Did you notice that what I'm assuming is your number tag, looks like it could be TP sticking out of your pants. Hee! Great Job!

So dang proud of you. I want to do this some day, but the older I get, the more I think I won't. Dang, I am getting lazy in my old age.

But you are fabulous. Congrats again.
