Aside from being a terrible hoarder, Abby also happens to be the pickiest eater on the face of the planet. Which is why I am dedicating an entire post to her on this very unique evening. She ate an entire plate tonight of salmon and spinach orzo. This wouldn't be so amazing except that the child normally won't accept anything other than pasta or bagels (and an occasional cinnamon roll...I mean, who wouldn't?) I think we picked up the wrong child from preschool today.
Maybe she was just basking in our praise and sheer amazement at the situation considering every other child under the age of 7 was whining and crying at the table tonight. The emotional estrogen was so thick it would've choked the likes of a very manly lumberjack. I mean there was weeping, waling, gnashing of teeth. You would have thought we were shoving cow tongues and fish eyeballs down their throats. I don't really believe in making them finish their plates. If they choose not to eat it, they go to bed hungry. They do however, have to try at least one bite before saying they don't like it.
It's a good thing Papa was absent for the first part of dinner. He might have been swallowed up and spit out the window by all the estrogen in the room.
Heaven help us all in about 10 years.

Way to go Abby!!
Sometimes you just have to shake your head and wonder. Like Spencer who only eats eggs, french fries and chicken, but declared spinach his favorite food. I personally don't care for dinner time myself. I'm glad Abby could come out shining.
I personally dread dinner. None of my kids like the same thing, except Swedish pancakes or Mickey Mouse Waffles. Everyday at dinner I hear the words gross, or "I don't like mommy food." I keep reminding myself that someday I will miss the special time we have at dinner.
my kids wouldn't eat salmon, let alone something called orzo....and they are pretty decent eaters. Happy day for you! I love how you write about all that estrogen.
You basically described dinner at our house. Poor Warren!! There are may nighs Warren and I look at each other and just take a deep breathe because of all the "drama."
Good job, Abby. And I am so happy for you as a mom. I know what a headache picky eaters can be!
Kids are unpredictable...to the point where I'm starting to live in fear.
Just caught up. You're life seems very crazy...but full! :0) I would love to just watch a day in the life of Emily.
I always fix exactly what I'm in the mood to eat because if I'm fixing the dinner, I'm fixing what I want. If someone else wants to fix dinner, I'll happily eat whatever they are in the mood to fix. But my children always surprise me by what they will eat and what they refuse. No rhyme or reason to it.
H.'s favorite food is broccoli and it is SCARY how much she can eat of it. Also a little scary what comes out of her the next day. Lovely shades of green...
