Just an update, last night Clark was waiting by the car, poised and ready to pounce on the chance to get through. I got a phone call from a neighbor that said with a secret password (the name of our street) the cop was letting people through for the next five minutes (this is last night at about 7pm). I called Clark and yelled "GO GO GO!!" and he did, and they made it through before the copper closed the road again.
The rain let up enough through the night that the road is open both directions again (amazingly enough!) but that car is still sitting in the middle of the road with a huge tree against it. Clark went to work but school for the entire county was canceled.
We are all good, albeit a little wet!
Thank you for your concern, the yummy dinner was had and Clark was awarded his presents for being such a good birthday boy and bringing our babies home safe.

Yay! I'm glad you guys are together again, or at least have access to be so when work is done! Have a great weekend!
Oh my goodness! What a crazy, wacky world we're living in. It is hard to imagine that it is raining anywhere right now, let alone raining THAT much! I know you would share if you could. You are so kind.
I am glad your family is safe and all together! I love you!!
So, I'm now officially caught up on the book of Emily and I loved every bit of it. How can we talk so often and I miss so much. I love that you blog. You will look back and be glad you blog. I'm just not sure why you didn't invite me to Sweden. I make an excellent travel companion (well, better than the children because I ask for less treats and I don't make you carry me when I get tired.)
Blog crazy indeed. Glad to hear you are all together again. I have to be honest though and ask...How can you be bored when the kids are gone? I am still euphoric over having my house back again. I still got a rascally 2 1/2 year old at home, but even so I do what I always do, and try to jam tons of activities/projects into "all my free time", and presto! back to over-whelmed again. That's just me though. Probably a little boredom would be good for body.
Cheers,
Leah
What the crap?! I'm calling you tomorrow.
I had heard Ox Road was flooded, but I didn't know it was THAT bad! You know you can always hang down here if you need to...IF you can get here that is. I was super grateful that I HAD to pick up my middles (even though I grumbled all the way there about the bus route issues still not being resolved) because if they had ridden the bus, they might have been stranded on a road on their route that completely collapsed. That rain was CRAZY! Glad you're all home safe and sound, that you got to eat your yummy meal and that Clark was sufficiently celebrated!
What is going on in DC, for Petes sake? What next--bubonic plague?
Let me know when you need a guest room in the basement for a few days...we even put dry wall up in the ghetto bathroom so you are good to go. I'm so glad you are safe...
