We have been up to my apron strings with quality time together.
As long as I am armed with a good attitude, not a lot of things on my to-do list and some snacks, I love a good snow day. If we're lucky, we may even have another one tomorrow. And since we had nothing but time today...I decided to document it...don't worry, I left in all the good fluffy stuff while sparing you the brief airs of bickering, poopy diapers and the smell of people that should have used all that spare time to bathe today. But we didn't. We enjoyed it to the fullest. Though Haley and Abby were repeatedly disappointed when I told them a dozen times that "no you cannot go play outside" because it was a real, live, snow storm and they probably would have actually blown away, or been covered in a snow drift.
We stayed in pajamas, played Legos and Little Pet Shops, enjoyed a nutritious breakfast of powdered and waxy donuts (unless you are Haley and prefer dinner leftovers for breakfast), played the Wii, took a nap/watched a movie, read our book, danced, made cookies, played dress ups, ate something with marshmallow fluff, turned in reward tokens for the "fake snow experiment" out of the prize chest (funny since we had tons of real snow outside), painted fingernails and toenails and then ate more donuts.
A whole lot of nothing equals a whole lot of fun, when done in moderation of course.
PS Besides the brownie that I had for breakfast, our normal day doesn't normally ingest so much junk food. Just sometimes when it is called for. And typically, a snow day calls for marshmallow fluff to be put into something.

I showed serious restraint the other day at the store and did NOT get the waxy doughnuts I wanted so badly I could feel the thin layer of film on the roof of my mouth. Now I may have to go back and buy some.
In all my self-centered drama I have missed TWO good posts! Shame on me! I love the donuts and playing and girliness of it all. I also love the newest Leiutenent Commander--that is worth passing on a hearty hug from me with a big man pat on the back from James. I have to admit I almost didn't see him there in front of that ship--he blended right in...and didn't you get the memo, red flag? Were you trying to get them all killed? Har har har.
Love that little[ish] fam of yours. Oh, and genius zone thing. Can't wait to try it out in a couple of years.

Sounds like a wonderful day! I need to be better at just playing like that with my kiddies. I always get too busy and think I have too much to do! You are always such a good example to me and a wonderful mom! And, I love the zone idea... I may have to steal that one and give it a try around here!

Funny thing, I took pictures of the snow day 2 weeks ago to document it and never posted it. I love the days when all the routine goes out the window. As long as they aren't every day.
You are my hero. I would love to be a mom like you but I so often lack the imagination and the patience to actually PLAY with my kids. Way to go making another really fun memory with them.
I am totally going to pray that we get a huge snow storm and then I'm going to do exactly what you guys did. Fabulous day...perfection! I love that you know how to be the perfectly perfect mom for your girls! HOw I wish you were close so I could send HB over when she needed to be immersed in "girl".
And would you do a detailed post on the "zone" thing? I'm serious...I want specifics because that little beauty is going to be implemented here.
