So I've decided that my 3 year old knows exactly how to get herself out of a perdicament-be cute and remorseful. We are having major issues with her potty training. Needless to say, I am sick of changing poopy 3 year old pull ups and have thrown away so many pairs of un-savable poopy underwear that I am ready to give her away.
Today we had the millionth talk about where we put our "potty". After sitting on the potty for a very long time waiting for "something big" to happen I put her back in a pull up and we agreed that if she pooped in her pull up then she would have to go to her room for a while to think about it (I know what all you parents are thinking, just read the rest of the story and don't worry about our tactics...) So she poops in the pull up then quietly and compliantly goes to bed where she falls asleep for an hour or two. When she woke up we had the millionth + 1 talk about potty potty potty.
So, to make a long story short (too late!) tonight getting her ready for bed she wouldn't come over to get her nightgown on so I suspected she was avoiding me. I told her to come over. She reluctently got up and approached with her eyes downcast and an ashamed look on her face. "A, what's wrong?"
"I poopy".
"Come on..." we go down to change her.
This is the best part, and the point of the cute story about getting herself out of trouble.
"A, do you remember what we talked about this afternoon?"
"Yes" a pause and more sad, remorseful eyes...and then she replied, "the Holy Ghost".
Besides the fact that I have never heard her say that in any context before, it was funny enough that we left it at that.

She TOTALLY knows what she's doing, and lucky for her, she has the sense of humor to make it work! She is such a character! My favorite part is that she wasn't even poopy after all (or so you said) but she approached you all remorseful and dramatic.
Yeah, I had one like that at 3. He still is at 7. Cute at acting remorseful, not poopy.
It doesn't matter what you are asking her to do or not do--"A, go swim with those sharks and then lick my feet..."
"OK Mom" in the sweetest little voice you've ever heard.
That is very funny! What a smartie pants you have (smartie POOPY pants that is!). ha ha
again, soooo cuuuute!
Linnea is doing the same thing! I don't know that I have had one day without her poopy underwear to clean since comming to France... one day I even got myself thinking that she should have bread for her snack because fruit would make it too difficult to clean the day after... Ahh! I do understand your dilema! When you have it figured out let me know!
i want a bolg about her sea lion comment "ehe, they don't got no legs!"
We were looking at the sea lions at the zoo and she giggled then said, "He don't got no legs". She is a funny girl.
She has always made me laugh. She is the most droll and hilarious child--somehow she has perfect comedic timing and delivery...and she's three, for Pete's sake! I'm glad I'm past the potty-training stage. Just remember, I've never heard of a college student who wasn't potty trained yet!
I liked when she asked if she could come live with me and I said, "A, what about your mom and dad? Don't you think they would be lonely without you?" and she quickly replied, "Oh, maybe they could just come live with you too!" I ADORE YOUR GIRLS!
