Soccer Mom?

Is it possible to be a soccer Mom, if you don't have any kids that play soccer? My husband pointed out to me today while walking the park, that I should be a soccer Mom, because all soccer Moms are hot. He got a kiss in between me realizing that one, he wasn't checking any of them out, and two, he still thinks I'm hot.
Three weeks ago my husband and I joined the throng of McDonald's lovin', diaper-changin, potty-trainerin', hot dog eatin' mini-van drivers. We fought the good fight but in the end we succumbed to a lovely magnesium pearl Dodge Grand Caravan. The color, consequently, is neither magnesium or pearl.
We all understand each other and have pride in our decision to drive such a vehicle and yet there is shame in trying to look cool while doing so. And for some reason, people are more ticked off to be cut-off by a mini-van than some cool SUV.
We love our van. It's been three weeks and we actually are still adhering to the "no food" policy and I bought our very own dust-buster the night we got it, just to keep it clean. It's all down hill from here...but we're lovin the comfy ride.

My favorite license plate frame thingy I've seen on a mini-van says, "Yah...I swore I would never drive one, too." You get used to it. "Cool" is no longer a factor for me anymore.

Here is the up-side. I have a theory: police officers avoid pulling over soccer moms in their mini-vans at all costs. SUVs - they have no problem.

As for the crumbs...it's only a matter of time, my friend...only a matter of time. (Like when have a newborn and you're shoving french fries in the girls faces so they won't wake the baby...)

So glad to see you're back. How was the cruise? I want details. I've never been... (You've never BEEN?)

Yea, you're back! And hey, I think you look very cool in your Magnesium Pearl mini-van. Didn't I always look cool in our mammouth family vans? At least you are not driving a huge teal and black customized high-top full size van with reclining bed/seats and fancy running boards! What were we thinking? We did once fit 20 screaming 14 year-olds into the back of our first van for a Duran Duran concert--no seat belts, not even enough seats. Those were the good old days. Trust me, you're cool compared to what I looked like. I will confirm that your can IS very clean. Way to go.

I meant to say your CAR is very clean. I can't comment about your can....

Unfortunately, high school students don't look very cool driving mini vans, large vans, OR conversion vans. I'm happy that you love your new can...er...van, just think about the girls when they get older...who knows, maybe they will have their own individual hover crafts by then...it could happen!

i dont know... as uncool as parents may look, i still honestly think i would have loved driving that conversion van around during high school... but maybe that fold down leather seat in the back would've just spelled out trouble for high schoolers and their surplus of hormones.

Welcome to the world of the mini-van! And to the cool family of Grand Caravan owners. Our color is temple white which really translates to lots of dirt on the outside and tons of crumbs on the inside. Our food policy lasted 2 hours...yep, 2 hours. But we bought the van in 45 minutes. I was post pardum and my husband wasn't messing with me that night. I told him we needed one and I wasn't kidding around. I love my mini van.

Ah, you did it! Joined the mini-van world! I am so proud.

We at our house have avoided it. My husband has been fairly determined. We raised three children, and thought we had escaped ever needing one.

Even when I got pregnant so late in the game, we thought, Oh, "Jay will be gone soon enough" *grin*

Right up until the Doc told us Ethan would need a wheelchair. YIPES. Goodness. Paul was devestated.

Dodge Caravans are one of the only kinds they can convert. We too will be the proud owners of such a vehicle before July. *Grin*

I am glad to know you lived through it. *smile*
