So I was driving tonight in a quiet car and had time to think. I was thinking about this.
I realized one of the many reasons that I love it so much. So although there is a very obvious flaw (aka missing head) you are not put-off for one second because the rest of her is so incredibly and beautifully distracting, and optimistic and moving...moving forward and up. Moving. One foot forward. Flowing. Energy. Strength. But also serenity and softness. Feminine.
Inspirational.
Anyway, that's just one reason.

I love that you are reliving the memory of a beautiful experience when you have a quiet moment. I hope it will continue to nourish you for a long time! I guess that is one of the great things about inspiring art.
It makes me want wings.
And nicer breasts.
It is beautiful. I am embarrased to say I have never thought much about it..I need to study art more. But I agree with you, it is beautiful and moving.
I bet she was real ugly. Just think what Princess Fiona's head on that statue would look like. Time, erosion, conquerors... whatever ... did us all a favor so we could enjoy her lovely wings and ta-tas moving forward and upward.
And thank you for that post about "Motherly Love". I needed that. My kids thank you, too.
I need you to explain the statue to me, because I can't tell what it is. Or where the body parts line up. I am an art loser, but I can still enjoy the beautiful concept.
Beautiful...I'm sometimes surprised by the small things I come across that take my breath away!
